My current system:

Pentium Dual-Core E2180 (running at a stock of 2GHz, I had it at 3GHz for over two years up until a few months ago when the PC 'cutting off' problems started happening so I turned it back to stock speed just incase that was the issue)
2GB Corsair XMS DDR2 memory
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H micro-ATX motherboard
GeForce GTX 260 896MB (216 core)
Using two HDD's, Maxtor Diamond 200GB and Hitachi Deskstar 300GB, both are pretty old and have been carried over from my old PC (the one I had before this one) so I want to upgrade these to one 1TB HDD.
CoolerMaster RealPower 520W modular PSU (I have been having issues with my computer just 'cutting off' and rebooting, I'm pretty sure this is a PSU issue so I also need a new PSU).

Basically, I want to build a new computer. Mainly because the current components, except for the GPU which is only 10 months old and my PC case (both of which I am keeping), are nearly three years old and also because I have got an issue with my computer where it keeps 'cutting off', basically like the plug is being pulled from it, but then it boots up again. I don't know which component is causing this problem specifically as I have tested a few and have had no luck. The memory is working fine, same goes for the HDD's, I would assume it would be a blue screen problem if it was a GPU issue plus it doesn't happen at any time in particular (eg. gaming) and I would assume the computer wouldn't really work properly if it was a CPU/motherboard issue.

So basically it's about time for an upgrade and I want a new CPU, motherboard, memory, 1TB HDD and PSU. I have around £300'ish to spend, is it possible with that amount of money, and if so, can you spec me something which will last me a year or two at least?

Gaming mainly, I want to be able to play modern releases and upcoming games at a pretty high graphical quality with no problems. I'm currently able to play about 50%/60% or so of games at 'high' settings, I don't think the GPU is the issue as it's still a relatively new and powerful GPU (at least I think so), so I'm thinking its the lack of a quad-core and 4GB of memory thats the issue for me.

If you feel like trying to unlock the extra defunct cores, which isn't guaranteed. You'd have to chose a motherboard that is capable of doing so.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have been having a look myself and put this together, let me know what you think.

The OCZ StealthXStream 2 500W only has one 6-pin PCI-E connector, a GTX 260 needs two. To get the other connector you would need to have a Molex to PCI-E adapter, which will use up two Molex connectors from the PSU. This might leave you a bit short on molex connectors if you needed more than two for fans in your case, etc.
