So the time has come to upgrade my Socket 939 system (yeah I know, it's a dinosaur). It's been a while since I've dealt with stuff so I could use some input. Here's what I'm thinking of getting:-

CPU: AMD FX-6300
MB: Gigabyte 970A-UD3P
RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX Genesis 1.6 Ghz
SSD: Intel 335 240GB
GPU: GTX 650 (current card, plan to upgrade to a GTX 760 at a later date)
PSU: Corsair RM650
Case: Zalman Z1

Am I doing it right? Will that memory work with that motherboard? Will that CPU bottleneck a GTX 760? Is a 650 watt PSU overkill? Are the two 120mm fans in that case going to be sufficient?

yeah it will work alright, you could probably get away with 550w but 650w isn't really 'overkill', you might find many people upset with what im about to tell you, but many GAMING* benchmarks actually show intel I3's outperforming AMD quad and even 6 core CPU's (unless the AMD's have a good overclock running)

in other words, if you buy AMD, make sure you're wanting to Overclock! otherwise in my opinion an I3 haswell would serve you better assuming the rig is for gaming, but if you can afford an unlocked i5 Devils canyon, that's even better :p

ps: as you're probably aware, the GPU is more important than CPU for gaming and i can't imagine the 6300 or an i3 would really throttle a 760 gtx very much, apart from cpu intensive games

Probably get a better PSU such as Superflower 550w
Okay, I'll keep that one in mind. It's cheaper than the one I was looking at too :)

check my sig link, if you consider the SSD to be a real must then disregard this comment :p (i don't believe in SSD's on budget builds apart from as a later upgrade)
Honestly, I've been craving an SSD for years. I know they have like zero impact on gaming performance, except for loading times being a few seconds shorter, but faster boot times and their inherent silence are good enough reasons for me to get one. :)
