new build need some advice

ok here is my current set up

amd xp 2700+
asus a7n8x deluxe
1gb generic ram
maxtor 250gb
wd 120 gb
2 x maxtor sata 160gb in raid 0
256mb geforce 6600
19" syncmaster940bf
unknow case with bubble tubes at the front
generic 350 watt power suppy had antec 550w but it died on me :mad:

sry it was a long time ago i put this build together


and now the parts i have so far for my new build
case is a thermaltake armour va8003bws
cpu is E6600 "LGA775 Conroe
mobo Intel D975XBX2KR BAD AXE 2
mem is Crucial Ballistix 4GB DDR2 PC2-6400C4 800MHz

and these are the parts i'm thinking of adding

graphics BFG GeForce 8800nGTS 640MB
storage 4 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 500GB with the option of adding another 4 drives at a later date
power Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 or Coolermaster RS-850-EMBA
cpu cooler Asus Silent Square Pro or Titan Amanda TTC-NP04TZ (if it will fit )


i think that just about covers it what i'm after is ppls thoughts on the suggested parts or parts that i havent considerd that ppl feel i should any and all feed greatly apreciated

Welcome to the forums. That looks fine although you might need Vista 64bit to get the full benefit of 4gb of Ram.

I don't know how good the Asus cooler is but you could also consider - Noctua NH-U12F, Scythe Ninja and Tuniq Tower. :)

what can i say i'm a big movie fan hate swapping disks for games like to play a large range of games and i also download a few gig from various places but if i use news groups i can easily fill my current storage

but at any given time i have a couple of 100's of gig taken up by movies on ma system
and i'm also very lazy when it comes to burning files to cd/dvd

my current sys has only about 50-80 gig's free and i could fill that today easy

i just find it more convenient having it on the puter than on plastic

thanx quite like the noctua and scythe

don't like the look of the Tuniq Tower though

if i was to choose betweent them i think the noctua was the edge :cool:
