new build need to update bios in safe method

So chaps i have a asus z77 v pro motherboard and bios 1708 on a usb pen in FAT32 mode.

The problem is i have two files one is bios and the other is called bios rename?
Should i just put only the bios file on the usb stick?

And once that is done which methods do i use to update the bios? Should i use the EZflash usb drive port on the motherboard and hold the button for 3 sec? Or do i use the bios itself? There are two ways to flash right?

And should i load failsafe defaults before i flash? Many thanks in advance

Forget your usb stick.
Install (from your mobo disk) Asus Update.
It will do it safely for you. You can choose to download the bios file first, then update it from the download folder. That's the best way.

Download it onto your hdds and use bios utility through bios
