New Build No Post 12700K, Z690, DDR5

Hi all first post here.

Got my new kit through from OCUK rapid as ever. However for the first time ever I've got a no-post.
I'm a VERY careful and experienced builder. Checked all the latest guides here in this forum. Triple check all my connections, component fitment etc...I can see nothing indicating i've screwed up the build.

So here's what I got:

12700K
Gigabyte Z690 Aero G
Corsair Vengence 5600 2x16GB DDR5
Corsair RMx 850

Here's the problem I get:

No Post and Status LED's flash backwards and forwards between CPU and DRAM, then after about 30-40secs the system resets itself. (I got about 4 beeps also just prior to it resetting). All fans come on etc...

Judging by one other similar post, I should update the BIOS with Q-FLASH to see if this is causing a RAM problem....So I tired this; but not wanting to disassemble my build without confirming the fault first with the CPU, RAM, M.2 are all still instilled. I popped the pre-loaded USB in to the port labelled USB 3.2 BIOS, pressed the Q-flash button on the MOBO but it all it did was the fans spun into life for a few secs then died. So first question is: Does Q-flash need to be run on a bare MOBO with just a power cable attached?

Is this the wrong avenue and something totally different is at fault?

If the CPU, DRAM, VGA was faulty would a status LED not be on solid? (they are not on solid)

Any help very appreciated, very worried and just spent a lot of money!!

Hi i always check the pins with a magnifier prior to build. They looked perfect. However I'll need to remove anyway if i'm doing the Q-Flash PLUS so will double check then. Cooler was very evenly and very gently screwed down, alternating screw order. Used a toque driver to the 0.6nM spec. Also I actually backed the cooler screws off to very light just to check this and it made no difference.

Have you tried a single stick of memory in each slot ?

Q flash did you format the usb drive to fat 32 and rename the bios file Gigabyte.bin
 
Yeah. All RAM combos with individual sticks. No joy. However just spotted a mistake on my USB stick with the flash BIOS. Renamed file wasn’t in the root directory. However the guides are all saying you need to do it with nothing fitted to the MOBO and I’ve not stripped mine down yet…will try in the morning but also check the CPU socket pins.

BIOS update, using Q-Flash (the bios notes did say for better 5600-6200 TAM compatibility)

RAM-CPU alternating status LED cleared.

There was a second display VGA fault afterwards but that was the DVI issue a lot of people see on first boot. So I just used an HDMI and TV.

Glad you sorted it.

What is you mainly uging your pc for , e.g gaming ?
 
Both me and my son are gamers but I’m also doing heavy stuff with Solidworks, Photoshop and rendering so there’s a fair bit of heavy lifting the PC might have to do in future.
 
I got the same combo. Every change of settings with memory results in long boot times. I had to update bios as well. Memory support on gbt seems to be really bad. Especially with trident z5
