I have recently purchased new parts for a new build for uni because my old system died. I built everything correctly, the system powers up and all fans spin, but does not POST and I do not get anything to display. I have tried DVI/HDMI input and still no display. I can't even use VGA on-board graphics because my motherboard does not support on-board.

I have tried breadboarding it, making sure all sockets and connections are secured correctly, reseated the CPU/RAM & GFX card and reset the CMOS.

I have literally tried everything and came to the conclusion it may be that the RAM or mobo is faulty but not 100% sure. I have read online that the bios may need flashing with the new revision to support my CPU, but its not possible without having any display.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Specs:
GIGABYTE 970-Gaming Motherboard (Socket AM3+)
AMD FX 8350 4.0GHz (8-Core) Black Edition
HyperX Fury Red Series 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Memory
Corsair CX550W PSU
XFX Radeon HD 8650
Seagate 1TB

Yeah the 8pin is connected to the board. Only have 1 stick of RAM and I have tried all slots, also tried pulling the CMOS and still nothing. I'm guessing I need to update the bios with F2 in order for my CPU to be compatible?

Try removing board and testing outside of case
power is if needed plugged into gfx
Try another gfx or this card in another pc
double check for bent pins on cpu

A few more suggestions if you have not already done so :)

thanks but I have tried all of the above haha been stuck with the issue for the past 2 days.

No chance they would release a newer revision which doesnt have support for such an old CPU on a later BIOS, makes 0 sense.

P.S F2 is the only BIOS it has, so thats what should be on it if its a 1.1

Okay thanks for clearing that up, was just a bit confused.

Could it be possible that the RAM is faulty?

Also would switching the dual bios feature change anything? If so how would I do this?

I dont think the dualBIOS will do anything as its still going to have F2 on it.

Its likely to be the RAM I think, you dont get bent pins on these sockets liek you do with intel, the heatsink is on and plugged in correctly?

Remove any drives as you dont need those to post.

try another gfx card.

I have resat the CPU and heatsink a number of times and all seems to be fine.

I am going to try my RAM in my brothers system tomorrow to see if it works, if not then it is the RAM and I will have to return it for a replacement.

I will try removing the drives and I already tried another gfx card, still no display.

Tried removing all drives, another gfx card, still getting no post or display at all. Give up again for today, going to test my RAM in my brothers system tomorrow to see if its faulty or not.

Open to try anymore recommendations.

*Update* - Still no luck with my system. Tried my RAM in my brothers machine today and it worked with no problems, so my RAM is in good condition.

Could anybody tell me if HyperX Fury Red Series 8GB 1866MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM Memory is compatible with the GIGABYTE 970-Gaming Motherboard (Socket AM3+)?

Also is it possible that I should be able to access the BIOS without the CPU/RAM or GFX card installed? Because I tried this earlier and still had no display.

Should be able to post/BIOS with cpu+heatsink, ram and a display output (onboard or in your case gfx card).

Don't get any post or BIOS with CPU/heatsink/RAM and GFX card, my monitor gives no display what so ever and I have tried 2 monitors & a TV using both DVi/HDMI. My motherboard has no onboard gfx.

Not tried another stick of RAM as I don't have any laying around, only have 1 stick of RAM in the system and I have tried all 4 dimm slots.

I have a feeling its the BIOS that needs flashing, don't have a spare CPU to try, may have to take it to a local PC repair shop to get it done, if that's the problem that is.

You need to try a different cpu or gpu.

Otherwise you could look at your motherboard manual and see if it lists beeps or led post notifications.

Can you still get a p80p card?

Tried another GPU didnt work, not got another CPU to try. I tried the manual for beeps but nothing in there I didnt already know.

Try gigabyte support, they have collected/flashed/returned boards before for other members FOC.

Or could even help diagnose the problem if you send them the main parts.

Kind of need the system up and running this week tbh due to uni coursework and stuff so taking it too a PC repair shop would probably be the quickest and fastest solution. Thanks for the advice though.
