New build, no signal and resets on boot.

Putting together a budget system for a mates son, got everything installed but upon switching it on theres no signal output to the monitor, no mouse light, keyboard etc. Also the cpu and rear case fan will spin up, slow to a halt then spin up again. Spec is.

gigabyte B85 HD3 rev 2.1
8gb kingston hyperx fury 1866mhz ram
1 TB western digital hdd
ati radeon r7 240 gpu
asus xonar DGX pcie audio card
samsung dvdrw drive
Corsair hx 850w psu

All of the above are new except the psu which is my old known working unit which im donating to this system. Tried ram in slots 1 +3 and 2+4 but to no avail. Any ideas guys?

Pull the gfx card+sound card out.

Connect directly to the monitor to rule those two out.

You must have the 8pin ATX fitted as you're smarter than that.

Remove all drives and use a single RAM stick, then try the other in different slots.

Try another PSU?

After that its either borked board/socket.

Lol, yep 8 pin and 24 pin properly connected, ram in slots 1 and 3. Nothing coming up on screen, no lights in g500 mouse or g15 kb.

Only other psu is the sf in my main system, nightmare to remove mate due to being cable tied in very tightly. The corsair was running fine when removed from my spec in sig. Will try one stick of ram.

Check the socket pins.

Or..if you've fitted a chuncky cooler slacken it off a bit as maybe bending the PCB.

Oh..clear CMOS too..take the battery out and refit.

try just one stick of ram and run through all the slots with both sticks

Booting fine with one stick, took the board out and checked the Io shield, wasn't sitting just right so hopefully this is it. Will add other parts and report back on progress. Cheers so far guys.

All a ok, all ram installed, audio card and monitor connected to gpuand drives connected. Seems it was the Io shield. Case being used for the build is my old lian Li a70f. Had issues with Io shield fitting properly in this case a few years ago.
