New build no signal from gpu only mobo

Hiya guys got a problem here with a build im working on today have put everything together turn on the pc and i get no signal with the gpu seated, if i remove the gpu and run the display from the dvi port on the mobo everything is fine

the card i am using is a xfx r9 270x
mobo is gigabyte GA-B75-D3v

any help would be great

all sorted forgot to turn off the onboard graphics how stupid of me, too early in the day lol thanks for quick reply
