Merry Christmas everybody!

a mate of mine has specced a system through overclockers and had it built with them, it delivered on wednesday. He has only just opened it up for Christmas and plugged everything in. When he powers it up he just gets a black screen.
The monitor i splugged in and connceted to his sytem via DP. When he selects the input source via the monitor it seems to accept his choice but does nothing else. I'm having to replay this info via the forums as he is awaiting his application to be accepted by the mods. As much as I can ascertain the system is powered up.

I'm not massivley PC savvy but have been trying to help. Is there anything people could recommend we try to get his system up and running?

He sent me the spec through on email.

I assume he has connected up anything inside and/or done anything that might be required with the heatsink? sometimes pre-built systems are shipped with the heatsink disconnected and secured for transit so the board doesn't get damaged, etc.

Standard things like clearing the CMOS either via the jumper or removing the battery for a few minutes comes to mind.

thanks for your promt reply Rroff. I have just got off the phone to him. He is going to wait until wednesday when Ocuk are open again. It is his first PC and doesn't want to be tinkering with it really, which is fair enough. Thanks for your fast response, enjoy the rest of your christymas day. Appreciate the help.
