Also made sure all cables are plugged in both 24 and 4 pin mobo ones

Any help will be appreciated

I've tried resetting cmos nothing happened I'm starting to think the mobo is doa

is there any lights on the motherboard to indicate its getting power?

is the 24 pin and other connecter to the motherboard securely connected?

Hi,

The CPU is a Haswell refresh which means B85s/H81s/H87s/Z87s need an updated BIOS to run it. If the motherboard was manufactured prior to when the new Haswells appeared, it won't have the right BIOS.

You may need a first gen Haswell borrowed from someone, to update it, before popping in your chip. Or you can try updating it through the BIOS if it will let you (it might brick the motherboard given the CPU may not be completely recognized, or it might work, so do it at your own risk).

This happened to someone I know just a few days ago, with a Haswell refresh i5-4460 and a B85 mobo.

This makes some Sense so I guess my best option into send the mobo back to overclockers for a refund and in the meanwhile buy a z97 new mobo.

That's a good option if you can fork out the extra dosh. H97 will also work too. Not much price difference between Z and H, so Z is often the better choice.

If you are using the stock cooler, just make sure it is spinning and not being caught by its fan wire being over-tight. I had this recently and was stopping boot up.

Just an update, I just got off the phone to sales and arranged for my mobo to be refunded and at the same time a new mobo was recommended 'Z97' for about he same price that works with my CPU, This is being sent out today for Monday delivery so all in all I'm a very happy camper all be it I have to wait a few more days to get this up and running.

But OCUK after sales is outstandingly good, First time I've had to use them but this is why they are the best.

Agreed. They are fantastic. Hopefully that will have been the issue and new mobo will sort it out. If you happen to remember, please post again to confirm. Good luck. :)
