Hi folks,

I've just put together a new PC and it's not powering on. No fans or beeps, it's dead as a duck.

I tested the PSU and it's working. Un-plugged and re-plugged all cables, re-seated RAM, still no signs of life.

I wonder if I've just made a mistake and not plugged in the power button cable properly? Does it look right? Isn't there a way of powering on a machine from the motherboard (to test)?

Did you test the PSU with a tester, or another PC? I assume all the power cables are from the PSU that you purchased?

I did the thing with a paperclip in 2 of the cable sockets and saw the PSU fans spin. So there's power getting that far, at least.

What case have you got?

Lian Li Lancool III

I tried the trick with the screwdriver that Mcnumpty2323 suggested but nothing happened.

No luck. Tried outside the case, it's still deader than my 14th birthday party.

Noticed on your pic of the RAM, the first stick is not locked in properly. (think you should still get signs of life though)

Very possible I made a mistake, but I would have thought I'll get POST beeps and fans even I've put something in wrong, as long as there's power to the MB?

Tried it with the same PSU and cable I had in my previous PC, still no life. Have contacted OCUK to ask about a return. Seems my gaming marathon will have to wait a little longer. Woe.
