Just bought

Shuttle sp35p2
9600GT
Corsair memory
Samsung spinpoint sata HD
Samsung Sata optic drive

Problem is when I switch it on it gets to the first screen which has a big shuttle logo and gets no further...

Iv have no other hardware to swap and test! so I played around with the memory sticks checked the cpu and gpu. If I take out the memory or the cpu it dosnt even get to that screen so I think there ok! but disconnecting the HD makes no difference at all.

Am i forgetting something???

No nothing...tried cmos, even tried jumper settings on HD not sure if thats needed with a sata one as it didnt come with any jumper plugs....

i would guess that it is HD related ...

do you have another SATA port on the motherboard you can try ?

do you not have another HD from your existing pc you could try ?

edit:

ive just been reading up on this.. try removing the video jumpers

Iv swapped them with the optic sata port to no avail
I only have a laptop

Shuttles manual is crap...it only ships with a quick setup guide...no mention of video jumpers, will have to look into that

this is from the shuttle website, not that it helps you....

What do I do if my system fails to boot-up or hangs at POST?

The first thing to do is to shut down the system and clear CMOS with a jumper. Then check all hardware devices systematically, including CPU, RAM, VGA, AGP and power supply. Check that your CPU, RAM and AGP are supported by your system (DDR and AGP support list is only available for XPC). If you are still unable to resolve this issue, please contact your local reseller/retailer (point of purchase) for more directions, and if necessary send it in for service.

seen that all ready and have done all the above too barring contacting the retailer:)

If I try to boot with no ram nothing happens...just a blank screen

read on another forum that few people had a similar problem (only boots for 5 seconds) and had to RMA the unit... people were saying its a bios problem ..

im not sure if that is the same thing as you have .

think i will get in touch with ocuk see what they suggest....im pretty sure iv tried everything.... (dont think this has video jumpers either, (the online manual is a load of crap too)

Well you'd know if it had a speaker you'd need to plug it in, its a small 4pin plug that goes into the pin header (bottom corner fiddly bit of the mobo)

I think your best bet is to just get in touch with OCuK, give them a ring when the shops open dont bother with webnotes they'll be getting hammered this time of year!

Hmm Guys

From another forum I just been pointed to a compatibility list! now I thought from the list I looked at that the CPU was compatible but apparently not....(dont ask me what list I was looking at as I dont know) My E5200 isnt there but the E5400 is! http://global.shuttle.com/support_list03.jsp?PI=1045 so maybe this is the issue?? and more annoyingly I have no way of testing it unless I spend out more money for a cpu:rolleyes:

I have just bought this Shuttle with an Intel E7300 and 4 GB of Kingston HyperX DDR2 PC2-8500C6 1066 Mhz. I am getting exaclty the same problem when I turn on. The fans spin up etc, and the Shuttle LOGO appears on the display but nothing else happens. Makes no difference if drives are connected or not, I've tried re-seating the processor and using different RAM in different slots - nothing helps.

Well at least your cpu is supported so that rules out that problem....must be a bad batch. I was contemplating buying a new CPU but I wont bother now...
