new build not working

just set up new comp but once i turn the power on, it starts up for like 2 seconds and then stops, keep repeating this with no beeps or anything. Anyone got any ideas what this could be?

I have a Abit IP-35E(socket 775) pci - express DDr2 motherboard

Corsair 520W PSU

Intel core 2 quad pro q6600

Assuming you have connected the case speaker, then it sound like a duff PSU or motherboard.

You need to check the PSU first.

Huddy's PSU guide

If you can eliminate that, then you can start looking at the mobo.

Make sure all your connections are secure.

sounds like it might be shorting out on the case or sum thing have u tried taking the mb out of the case and then powering up?

if you can say 100% that it's not the PSU, then yes, it does sound like a duff mobo imo..

i had similar thing with an old psu that was 2 years old, and it would turn on and switch off after about 1-2 seconds to.

Really sounds like psu prob rather than mobo

tried PSU in my old computer and its worked fine, so guess its the mobo!?

right the computer starts up once then restarts before going to POST, then it switches back on but stays on, but again doesnt goto POST, any ideas?

Mate seems to be a abit issue.

Mine does that 2 - i spent hours thinking it was shorting.

I read on here or the abit forums its a desgin thing? Apparently it boots checks bios etc then tunrs off then back on and boots normaly....

I reset the bios and then it posted... but it still takes restarts the first time even now..

mine works fine mate just leave it do its thing - press on pc comes on reboots then boots as normal

I reset the BIOS but still no luck

Any other ideas? or isit just my mobo is fried and need a new one?
