building a pc for a friend pieces have arrivered which include *OVERCLOCKED* Intel Pentium Dual-Core E5200 @ 3.20GHz / Gigabyte GA-EP43-DS3 Intel P43 Motherboard / Kingston HyperX 4GB 8500C5 DDR2 Bundle with a Coolermaster Real Power 520w Modular Power Supply in a coolermaster 335 case the rest of the pieces was spears i had lying around.
Built us normal all connectors in properley the power supply red led comes on my blue led on the mouse works but nothing else no leds on the motherboard and the on button does nothing. Is there anytests i can do to identify which piece is faulty i think its the motherboard but not 100% Please any help would be most appreshated.

i dont know if this is it but the led and button conections on he mobo are so tempermental. i can never get them to work. try swapping them around a bit

hey the side where there is a small arrow is the negative terminal. check it out you can also try to short the pwr button pins even with a hairpin or something conductive. It will work try it out!

Double check all power connectors including the 4 or 8 pin for cpu power.
You could check the psu by linking out pins 13 & 14 on the main 24 pin ATX connector, bit I would only have a case fan connected to one of the molex connectors.

Got the same bundle as above today, all the fans come on, and leds light up , but it doesnt post/beep or have any video output(ATI 4850).
Swapped out the 4850 with the one from my current pc and still the same.
Any ideas?

Sussed it now!

Removed 1 stick of ram from slot 3 and it booted up fine, tweaked the ram voltage up from 1.8 to 2.0 and tried both sticks again, wouldnt boot.
Put both sticks in slots 1 and 2 and it boots fine, with overclock in place but obviously in single channel mode.
So the problem seems to be with slot 3, is there anything I can tweak in the bios to try and remedy this or is it a faulty mobo?

karl01:
try upping the memory voltage as per funkeh:

funkeh:
nothing you can do to tweak it im afraid, sounds like a problem with the ram slot.

have you tried the memory in slots 2 & 4 ?

Yea, pc wont boot when I fill those 2 slots either.
Orthos'd both cpus and mem all night last night with no errors.

As I live in France and RMA would be a pain in the a*se, am I really going to notice much difference with it running in dual channel as opposed to single?

Oh and as a side note, I'm astonished at how quickly OCUK got the parts to me, I received them the day after I got the shipment confirmation email!!!

Awesome service!

Nothing seems to have worked have tried every thing. think i will have to contact overclockers thanks everyone for trying to help.

have you tried running the mobo outside of the case to make sure theres no shorts etc ?

as for "Nothing seems to have worked have tried every thing" might be worthwhile listing what you have done in case someone can spot something you might have missed, tried 1 stick of memory, just cpu/1 stick of memory and hd drive connected to system power etc.

not really.

as for rma'ing, just depends if your willing to chance one of the memory slots dying in which case you'd be limited to 1 slot.
