I bought a bunch of components recently including an i5 bundle with 8gb ram, motherboard and cooler. When I installed all this last night and powered it up I got absolutely nothing on screen. I moved the graphics card to a different pcie slot and even tried the old card from my previous build and nothing at all on screen.

I threw all the old components back in including the old card which works fine. I am guessing the Mobo is the most likely culprit or could it be the processor?

The board is an MSI Z87 G45. I didn't try the onboard graphics I will try when I get home tonight. All fans span including the G. Card and processor fan.

What power supply are you using ?

I take it you bought a new haswell bundle i5 set ? , reason I ask is some have reported problems with psu when using haswell. I'm guessing you used a current one from an older build ?.

Any chance you can borrow a psu to try ?

I bought a new Corsair 760I PSU as I know the old old wouldn't cope. The bundle is overclocked so it worked before it reached me sadly.

if it works through igpu(onboard graphics) flash the boards bios to latest version, then try graphics card again

(save any bios/oc settings beforehand though) as flashing will reset everything

No beeping from this case. The case is old and I ripped out the speaker when I got it as I had some fancy diagnostic LEDs on the back. The LEDs came out on the last build and I can't find them anymore.

I will pull this machine apart and rebuild it again and do some more testing.

post a pic,closeup?

if not to bad a big magnifying glass and fine sewing needle and gentle teasing would fix them, but don't mess too much as they can fatigue and snap off without warning

I just received my new board and I can see that one pin seems to be sticking up higher than all the rest and doesn't look like it is in the same alignment as the others. Will I damage the processor even trying to fire it up? I have already sent an RMA request in thouh. I am not having much luck so far.

you wont fry it it simply wont boot

sticking up higher is ok as the cpu will compress it,its if its twisted to the side
