New Build, nothing on screen.

I'm having some problems getting a build working. I'm building a file server and I have 6 SATA HDD's inside 2 IcyDocks and a IDE drive as the boot drive.

When I pushed the power button first, the lights on the IcyDock flashed and nothing happened. I had the 2 IcyDocks on one rail so first thought was powering too much on one rail (I have a Corsair TX650). I disconnected one IcyDock and the it started up. Fans and the HDD were spinning.

Problem is that there is still nothing on the screen. I have a low end Radeon 5000 series in there and I tried using the VGA and DVI ports but nothing is still coming on the screen.

I reset the BIOS but that didn't help either. Any advice on what is wrong?

Try removing the graphics card. Start the PC. Shut down after it realises there is no VGA. Add the card back in and see if that helps.
Do you have internal motherboard speakers?

Finally, its best to list your hardware incase this problem has happened to another member on this forums.

Asus M2n-e
4gb Crucial Ram
Radeon 5450
6 Samsung 1TB HDD's
1 WD IDE Hard Drive
AMD Athlon64 4800+
Corsair TX650W

They're the parts I'm using just now. One thing I notice is that even if I hold the power button, it doesn't turn off. I have to use the switch on the PSU.

Removing the graphics card, turning on, off, and reinstalling it didn't work either.

done that as well. No change :(

Not sure if there are internal motherboard speakers, but it's not making any beeps. Just noticed that the wireless keyboard receiver doesn't light up either.

Only thing in this build I am unsure of is the motherboard. Got it from ebay a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've tried it

I managed to get my hands on an AM2+ motherboard that was working when it was removed from a system.

I installed my CPU in it I get the exact same problem. Power on, fans spinning, LEDs light up, HDD makes noise, but computer does not POST, boot up, or show anything on the screen.

Looks like I may have used a bit too much force the first time round when installing my Arctic Freezer 7 Pro and damaged the CPU. I didn't hear any cracks or unhealthy sounds when installing it though and physically the CPU looks fine. No dents or bends that I can see.

I have tried 2 PSU's (one definitely works), 2 graphics cards (both definitely work), 2 motherboards (one should be working, the other one possibly), and faulty RAM should at least get to the POST stage or show something on the screen.

Does this sound like a broken CPU and I'm not just unlucky with multiple bad motherboards?

Alternated the RAM sticks, still no change.

I've used 2 graphics cards, 2 motherboards, tried each stick of ram independently. I find it hard to believe that I have the exact same issue in what is effectively 2 computers.

The only thing I haven't changed is the CPU, that has to be the problem. I'll replace that and if that isn't the problem, the whole lot can go on eBay and I'll buy a Mac... well maybe not that far
