I would stick to installing XP first and then Vista as Vista creates the boot mangment system afterwards.
So put in hard drive 1 into your system, boot it up with XP and parition it 80/80/340.
Install XP onto the first 80 and then wait till its finished, and then after XP has finished install Vista but select the second 80 (This will create the boot managment interface). Once Vista has restarted you now should be able to access both XP and Vista! Report back with any problems or if you need help.
