Hey people my brother is after an upgrade and mainly uses his pc for gaming and video editing. He's already got a copy of Win 7, a case (Antec 300) and an optical drive.

Here's my build for him:

So what do you think?

with £450 to spend you really want to think about getting an i5 2500k, or at least an i5 2300 in there:

its a touch over budget, but that CPU will be faster than the phenom whatever clock you put it at

Not really, its also only got a single PCI-E connector.

The GTX470 isnt a good choice either.

seemed like a good choice at £150. not something id normally recommend but at that price i was wondering why not

thanks for pointing out the PSU though. i originally had something better in there but cut it down to get the build in budget

*edit*
now i remember why i havent recommended it before, its very power hungry

i was thinking it cant use much more than a 460, but i was wrong

cant get the 560Ti in the budget no matter how hard i try, but the standard 560 fits in budget just fine:

went for the slower memory because the motherboard only supports up to 1133Mhz with no chance of overclocking

So people recommend the 560 then?
Is the OCZ ModXStream Pro any good?

I had that same GTX470 last year for about 7 days before sending it back, its so stupidily loud it was unreal.

The Bequiet is a better choice of PSU in this instance as it has a good range of connectors.

Right I've spoke to my brother and he's decided on these parts. He looked on nvidia and compared the 560 and 470 and really wants the 470.
