New Build old parts

Hi,

My now old OC overclocked rig is being used for kids and has yet another issue (see recent thread on general hardware about not turning on), i'm getting a little sick of it. The system is 6 1/2 years old but the GPU was upgraded 3 years ago.

Some of the parts are fairly old but good quality. I'm wondering if its possible to salvage quite a lot for a new lowgrade build but one that will run skyrim on low/med settings.

What I think is good in the system is;

Corsair TX 650w PSU
MSI 1024 6850 GPU
Arctic cooler Freezer 7 PRO

its in an antec 900 case and has 2x2GB 800MHz DDR2 black dragon memory.
Its running vista through a Q6600 OC'd to 2.4.
The HDD is a seagate 500 but I would defo want to change that.

I have built my recent system and it runs but I am less good at the software bit and its pretty much accident and trial and error that got the new hardward running I think, who knows if its even vaguely sensibly set up but it runs fine for me!

I don't know if the parts would be too unreliable and/or incompatible with a new mobo (which im sure is part of the problem).

Any comments welcome

Q6600 is still good if you don't want cutting edge games. General browsing and productivity will be fine with it.
4GB ram should be ok for most things (not gaming or photo editing)
6850 is ok as long as you don't want BF in ultra quality

New mobo would have to be socket 775 but again not the end of the world, depends on what you want to get out of it.

For a "normal" PC it will make a nice little build, maybe throw an SSD in for good measure.

Mainly want to play older games and surf, no need to have high settings on anything but my older son was playing skyrim on it.

To rejuvinate the system what mobo would be best, I can always add another 4Gb memory.

Thanks I wasn't quite sure from the bundle description. I assume as its pre-built it comes with the CPU's standard cooler fitted and that's what you mean. Sorry, though i have built a rig thats works i'm defo a noob
