Finally upgraded last night but i'm still using my old HDD.

Windows boots to login screen but when I choose my login it crashes
I get the following BSOD

PAGE FAULT in NONPAGINATED AREA

When I choose the missus login everything works for a while then I start to get currupt DLLs can't install many apps and when I try to install the new chipset drivers it gives me various faults.

I can however, run 3Dmark05, I get an internal DLL fault at the end but it still runs. Explorer runs ok, I also get a DrWatson bug where it opens around 100 times. Windows was fine before the upgrade.

Do you guys always do fresh installs when you upgrade? Do you ever have problems activating windows after?

I upgraded the bios to the latest version and I'm running latest version of Nvid drivers. I can't uninstall them as I can't access the remove apps panel it gives a dll error.

The MS error reports say I probably have a trojan if so would a fresh install fix this problem?

Cheers,

Jas

a fresh install is always reccomneded if you replace something as major as say a motherboard.

I would recomend you try a repair install first, that should fix your problems and let you keep all your emails, programs, settings etc

always do a fresh install on a new system, if its an upgrand depending on parts the current install my be ok.

New Build = New Clean Install of Windows

Only way to be tbh
