Well my new rig was built with no problems, booted first time, windows xp installed fine but i have encountered one small problem

when i tell windows to turn off the computer, everything shutsdown ok, windows says its turning off the pc, BUT it simply reboots the machine

any ideas or thoughts?

thanks in advance!

Check the bios and make sure the option of "reboot on power failure" is turned to disable :)

Or, try enabling and disabling the powersaving features and suspend states in the bios.

Other than that, we'll need to know your system as mentioned above.

could be 'wake on lan' or similar enabled in the bios

edit - I had a similar problem with a wireless card on an older pc, had to disable (in power management) pcipower on
