Hi Guys

I'm thinking of getting a new gaming system. My last upgrade was a good few years ago and therefore I’m a bit clueless so would appreciate your opinion.

I am looking to upgrade around the first week of Sept and I've heard that intel's new processors are coming out which should hopefully lower the price of the existing i7s.

I want something that will run latest games at preferably max settings for at least the next 2 years.

Please let me know if I've missed anything or whether I should choose different components. Ideally I don't want to spend more than a £1,000 but that currently seems unrealistic !

Additionally, I'm also happy to go with one of the OCUK pre-built systems so please feel free to recommend.

Cheers!

Proposed specs are:

very good.

change the harddrive to a Samsung F3 1tb, and ditch the sound card as you don't need it.

with that money saved buy a SSD like a Crucial 64gb C300.

and get a 1gb GTX460 to help with the 24" screen.

Id ditch the Asus xonar d2x and opt for the cheaper xonar dx pcie model, or the xonar ds pci version.

That kind of budget may very well warrant an SSD as Stulid suggested. And you quite probably will want 1GB RAM, the 460 is very generously priced in that regard anyway.

And if you do end up going down the SSD route or intend to do so in the future, you might want to have a look at the CoolerMaster Dominator II case which comes with a handy slot for it.

Thanks for the opinions guys. Its been quite a while since I last built my system so am now wondering if I should go down the pre built route. Can you guys recommend an OCUK system please?

Also which brand of ssd should I go for? I don't want more than 40gigs as will only use it for windows installation and other programs.
