I have a budget of roughly £500 to spend. My current set up is below. Should I start new or refresh my existing kit? Recently got into gopro video editing so would like something to suit that.

Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Aerocool Xpredator X1 midi Tower Case - BlackOrange
Akasa AK-CC4008HP01 Venom Voodoo CPU Cooler
XFX Pro 450W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9)
Xigmatek Orange Line 120mm White LED Fan (XLF-F1253)
Also have an SSD and a HP server for data storage.

Thanks :)

If you can try and find a I7 3770K (will need to be second hand) this will allow you to carry on using the rest of your system and just upgrade the CPU for the video editing side of things.

As Badger said are you finding the I5 having issues with video editing or just taking awhile to do everything?

just taking a while for editing. Just fancy a quicker machine. Currently I can't install win 8 or 10 on machine because it freezes up loads when the os is installed. Have tried installing multiple times but always get the same issue. Think it's a hardware issue.

If you look in event viewer it should give you some more info about the issues. If you post them maybe we can sort out or narrow down what the issue is.

have you tried a clean install of the OS? take it your running windows 7? maybe try and use memtest to check the ram for any faulty sticks.

if you get new hardware you would be better off getting a I7 over the I5 as the I7 has 8 threads instead of 4 which the I5 has and will speed up the video editing side of things

Do you overclock at all or is everything at default as you could remove the overclock and see if this helps with the crashing issues

Edit..................other option is you could get this

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £496.47
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Now, i dont normally do the builds so someone maybe able to come up with something else and its been a very long time since i built a PC so not too sure if the CPU comes with a stock cooler or not.
