Hi, Im looking to either upgrade my current pc or to buy a new one, not sure if its worth upgrading.

Im not very good with PCs so bare with me. Currently I have a

Intel i5 2300 2.80Ghz
Nvidia GTX 560ti
8GB ram
120gb SSD+500gb HDD
650w PSU

I was looking at getting the 4670k i5 and perhaps Nvidia GTX 780.

If im upgrading I would look to spend 400-600.

However If im better off selling my current setup and buying new im looking at spending between 950-1050.

System is to be used mostly for gaming, like Diablo 3, Starcraft some LoL and different MMOs.

Not sure if going for a gtx780 is overkill for these kind of games, im not really sure what im talking about so your help would be greatly appreciated!

I dont need any keyboards, monitors etc, I already have an OS and if im buying new I will most likely swap my current SSD into the new system.

Zanez.

The new Intel motherboards and CPUs should be out 1st June or thereabouts. Best to wait and see their performance/features reviewed, and then you can decide on selling your present rig or just upgrading some parts.

If you're very itchy, I suppose you could always buy a GPU now, as that will make a considerable difference, especially if you're aiming for a GTX 780 or similar, and can later be used in your new rig too.

Re: overkill, if you state which monitor you have, that will help with advice on a GPU, and also whether you intend to upgrade monitor within the next year or two.

Okay sounds like getting a new gpu might be the way to go!

Would the upgrade to a i5 4670 not be so worth it? not sure how well my current cpu performs in comparison.

I would put the money into a new GPU and PSU (if it's not up to scratch) and then sit tight to see what happens with the next Intel cycle.

Okay thanks, I think I'm going to just upgrade GPU for now and then the CPU a little later on.

Last question, will my motherboard support an Intel i5 4670? I have a gigabyte h61m-s2v-b3

Edit: Will my Mobo support higher end graphic cards like the 780 aswell?

Your motherboard will support Ivybridge and Sandybridge cpu's as it is a LGA1155 Motherboard.

The i5 4670 is Haswell which uses a different socket LGA1150.

Your board will support a single gpu, so a 780 would work fine, assuming you have a decent psu
