Hi,

I have just built a new PC with the following spec:

7800X3D
Asus TUF B650 Plus
Sapphire 7900XTX
Thermal take 1050w Toughpower
NZXT Kraken 360

Everything appears installed correctly however the PC shuts down after a period of time (around 10 mins) and then won't startup for about 5 mins after that

I can't get Windows installed due to this.

From the BIOS, the CPU temp rises and rises reaching high 70s at the last check which, even to a novice like me, seems very high for just idling on BIOS screen.

I am concerned that the cooler is not working but how do I tell that? The BIOS does report no CPU fan speed even though it's plugged in and all fans spinning.

If it helps, the cooler display was showing 42oC as the liquid temp which, again, seems high.

TBH, I have a feeling the cooler was a return as one of the screw bags was split, there was no film on the display and no thermal paste on the cooler either.

I did buy and apply some thermal paste prior to installing

I should have just went for an air cooler TBQFH.

Any suggestions?

Edit - hold up... I took it off and reinstalled it... CPU fan now showing in BIOS and the temps seem to be stable around 44oC... I'll update in 20 mins and see how it goes

Oh FFS, now the BIOS is reporting a CPU overvoltage with no other changes to the system and suddenly I have multiple fans all running at 65000 rpm and a CPU temp of -1 :(

Obviously it's misreporting. Rebooted a few times to check... Same errors.

Anyone got any ideas apart from resetting the CMOS?

Edit... Reset CMOS and back to normal... Aint this PC building just a laugh

Have you got the water pump plugged in to the correct MB plug ? Fan speed seems high, recheck all your connectiond

@Richie - ASUS website shows the latest BIOS is 1811. The 1616 you have is from May and was the first since beta. With 4 BIOS revisions since then I recommend you update since that might be the cause of the strange data shown in your screenshot.

Will do... I cleared the CMOS and it resolved the issue but I have only managed to get Windows installed and called it a night so still got a full setup and updates to do tonight.
