I posted a few months back asking for help with a £700 system, i decided to
wait a bit and spend a little more.

Here is the system I have put together, though I don't know what Ram I
should get. I only know I want at least 16gb.

This build will be used for gaming and CG work.

I would be grateful if you guys could take a look at this and tell me what you
think could be improved/changed/added. Any ideas about it.

The cooler is most likely going to be too big for the RAM height.

The Samsung 850Evo is a better SSD.

PSU is overkill.

EVGA PSU is made by Superflower and has a 10yr warranty.

What about HDD or OS etc?

Are you happy to wait for the case ? The release date is quoted as 6th July on the product page.

You won't need 1000W for the psu. A 750W is plenty for SLI. Something like the EVGA Supernova G2 750W which is essentially the same psu with a longer warranty.

I would look at the KFA2 GTX 970 Infin8 card as it gives you free shipping to mainland UK. It also has a zero coil whine guarantee when used with a Gold rated psu (Such as the EVGA G2)

Maybe go with low profile Ram to avoid any possible clearance issues with the cooler.

You can also buy the i7 4790K and Asus Ranger board as a bundle.

Here are a few different cards, psu's and Ram choices.

1000 Watt PSU is overkill, since that system will max out less than 500W or even 400W. Save a bit and go 850 Watt, still overkill but has potential to upgrade to more power hungry multi graphics cards set ups. I'd recommend the 750W, but the 850W is on sale just a few quid more.

Better value for money RAM, doesn't matter too much since it's only £10 difference.
SSD does matter however, Samsung 850 EVO is one of the top and most reliable brands. 5 year warranty and is one of the best performing SATA SSDs, I wouldn't go with anything other than Samsung or Intel for SSDs.

As for graphics card, I'd recommend leaving it for a few weeks since AMD release new cards mid-June and there could either be a better option for the money or the 970s could drop in price. The graphics card you've chosen is one of the best 970s, among the top 5. But the best two are the MSI Gaming and Gigabyte G1, higher clocks and performance out of the box and the cards run quiet. I wouldn't choose any other 970. As before, best wait till mid-June.

Finally, instead of buying the i7 and motherboard as separate items, buy the bundle instead as it saves you a bit of cash. I'd absolutly recommend ordering before 9AM Wednesday as that's when a lot of these deals end, so you'll end up paying more if you order afterwards. Especially the processor/motherboard bundle. Great price on the i7 right now, I ordered my own (in a bundle with a Gigabyte board) just 12 hours ago.

Oh and don't forget you can claim cashback as part of a promotion. Link is below.

Edit: Darn, I was beaten to it. Too slow. I agree with Stulid's choice of motherboard bundle, exactly the one I purchased earlier today.
