New build please

I keep reading about the 5770 cards not being string enough for gaming so
instead of that card can someone build me a decent hardcore gaming rig that will last 2-3 years (crossfire upgradable also)

been looking at the 4850 is this strong enough for the latest games or can someone help ?

Edit : i Run everything at 1920x1080 even on my radeon 9600
edit2 : i dont mind not having directx 11.

The 4850 is weaker than the 5770, so I wouldn't suggest going for that one if you want to play modern games at 1920x1200. Instead, you may want to cast your eyes towards the 5850 (also shown in the above review).
