New build prob...

Hi all...

Hope someone can help as I seem to have a problem...

Just built myself a new rig and something isn`t right me thinks so need to know what you guys think please, to see if I can get things sorted.

CPU-Z is reporting that my CPU is only running at 1GHz and this can`t be right can it? Was gonna post a pic of CPU-Z but can`t... so here`s what it says:

Core Speed - 1004.8MHz

Multiplier - x5.0

Bus Speed - 201.0MHz

HT Link - 1004.8MHz

Here`s my spec...

AMD Athlon 64x2 4200+
DFI Infinity nf UltraII-M2/G
G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NQ PC2-6400
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320gb
BFG 8800GTS 320mb
Antec Truepower Trio 650w PSU

Also OS is Vista 64 bit...

Please some1 help... I LOST.

Is this a Bios thing? Mmm...

try raising the multi in the BIOS, is AMD Cool n' Quiet on?

Yeh Cool`n`Quiet is on mate, cheers for the reply.

What do you suggest I rais it too?

Turn off cool and quite

raise the multi to it's stock max which afaik is 12

The 4200+ runs at 2200mhz, so the multi would be 11

11 x 200 = 2200mhz

set multi auto and turn cool n quiet off

Have set Cool`n`Quiet to Disable but blowed if I can find Multiplier to change anywhere...

Help please...

O.k...

Turning Cool`N`Quiet off has helped with the prob... now CPU-Z showing what it should I.E

Core Speed - 2210.3 MHz

Multiplier - x11.0

Bus Speed - 200.9 MHz

So thanks for that lads, but still not right...

I`m only getting 9268 3DMarks and still got stuttering in driving sims...

Please help...

do a disk defrag, disk cleanup, adaware scan and antivirus.. also make sure your paging file is set up

Will try these suggestions, thanks. Not sure about paging file though, how do I do that?
