None of the back or front headers seem to work, all cables appear to be connected, anybody know the cause for this?

Also, the pc will only boot from my old 80Gb hard drive, and not my new Seagate 7200.10 250Gb, both have windows XP on.

Thanks,
Limehouse.

Have you updated the BIOS to the latest version? This seems to fix a lot of problems.

Make sure all of yer cables are definetly connected to the right headers and are the correct way round.

Latest version of BIOS? the motherboard is barely a month old and hasn't really been used at all.

u dont say what m/b u using, but some of the newer conroe m/b seem to be releasing new bios every 2-3 weeks the now. the gigabytes & asus board have had @ least 4 new bios for the boards in the last month +. with many problems solved for ppl. + there r 1-2 beta bios about as well, that some saying is even better :)

what bios u using (date) latest for that board is Vers 1.10, released 25.8.06, just over 2 weeks, this could for u. every bois i have read about for these conroe boards, no matter what brand, have seemed 2 big huge improvments.

off ?, u using sp2, if not, could cause probs with detecting a large drive, before sp2, windows had prob reconizing anything over 140gb
