Hi everyone,

Other day i put my new rig together with my new bits :-

E6600 Conroe
Gigabyte DS4
2Gb of the Geil Ultra Low latency Ram

Now im having a strange problem with my DVD writer, everytime i try to burn a disc in nero, when i hit the burn button to set it away it comes up that its being used by another program.

Any ideas, thanks. :)

wow - thats a strange one...

have you tried:

a) updating to latest drivers for dvd rw?
b) reinstalling nero?

I know it may sound random but have you tried clearing the CMOS to get rid of any hardware, software conflicts in the RAM - erm does that even make sense...loool

let me know how you get on pal Im very intrigued...

Well i tried reinstalling Nero 6, and its still the same, keeps saying its being used by another application, at a loss here.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Just going off the subject ( sorry) are you pleased with your set up as i'm loking to get something like that. Was looking at the E6300 but i may stretch to the E6600.

With the same board and Ram as you've got.

Any thoughts would be good :)

use driver cleaner, remove anything and everything to do with nero 6.....

try getting nero 7 or reinstalling nero 6 only after you have used driver cleaner to remove all traces off it...

obvisiously some random software conflict....

good luck, keep us posted :)

matrix: e6600 has a 4mb cache thats the main difference well as well as a higher stock speed so you can get it higher when overclocking...

if your not going to be editing videos or converting video etc etc then to be honest the e6300 is value for money for you....

Just depends ideally on what you use your pc for.....basically if not video editing the e6300 is your chip even if you use photoshop, dreamweaver, flash etc etc

This is not technically true. The E6600 can normally overclock futher than the E6400/6300 as it has a higher multiplier. This allows it to clock higher at a lower FSB (especially on boards which limit the FSB).

Very pleased, its absolutely stonking, can't believe how much quicker it is over my A64 3500+, i was converting in DVD Santa, and the time was absolutely flying, was going like a stop-watch :D , i thought it wasn't gona work as is was going that fast. :D

What a CPU, aint even bothered clocking it yet as its that fast at stock, really lets my x1800 XT 512mb run at its full potential now, everything was running fine on it before, but this is insane.

Im going to try another version of Nero, as ive been googling, and some ppl have said they put another version on and it was fine after that, and it can't be me drive or nowt, as i can burn fine using other programs.

Ill keep u posted.

Yeah i'm guessing it's going to be a lot better than my AMD 64bit 3200+ socket 754 :D

Still debating E6300 or E6600

Be a helluva lot better, im still in shock at how fast it is. :D

Oh btw, i downloaded the trial of Nero 7, and that works perfect, so god knows what was up with 6. :p

I had the same problem with nero 6 and windows stand alone burning feature... installed nero 7 no further problems... how bizare and my spec's not much different from yours either!

Yeah was well odd, it worked perfect on my old set-up, i just don't know why it suddenly decided not to work when i changed motherboards, very bizarre as you say, oh well im sorted now.

Thanks for the replies everyone. :)

good stuff.......

something similar happened to me when I used the "beta version" of nero 7

glad your sorted tho...
