new build problem

just finished putting together new build and on startup when showing the clock speed shows 667MHz and something like 87*8 as the fsb.

cpu is a e6750 and the mobo is a evga 650i Ultra... anyone know what causes it and how i can fix it.

i'm currently updating the bios but i'm new to the c2d bios settings so if have no idea what else could cause it.

cheers for any help you guys can give

edit: still doing it after updating to current bios... also turned off everything that may slow the cpu down when idle and still reporting the lower fsb...
when i actually go in to bios it reports the speed as 2667MHz so i havent got a clue whats going on.

Also tried to install winxp, when it tried to boot up after copying files from disk it blue screened just after the windows logo appeared.

another edit:
think i have it working, just forgot to clear the cmos... that cleared the fsb problem... the blue screen error may be memory... as i took one stick out and windows installed and ran, i'll have to do a memtest run on them both to see if thats the case

was gonan say that yoru chip runs at 2667 intel cpus are quad pumped wich means the fsb is mulitplied by4. soo if you divide 2667 by4 you get 667 wich was the other thing you saw.

what memory do you have and what settings are it at ?? you may have to change the settings to the manufactures spec ie timings and volts. as sometimes these are not detected automatically properly.
