Hi all

I have just upgraded my pc which was working fine before, just that my games etc really needed a boost.

So I have change to the following components:-

Gigabyte GA P35 DS3P motherboard
4GB OCZ PC2-6400C4 memory
Intel Quad Q6600 Energy edition
Leadtek Geforce 8800 GTS640mb

The machine starts up okay,I can get into the bios and change any settings but when I come out of the bios XP starts to load (I have not formatted) the XP bar goes across once then the machine reboots itself.

any ideas please, has I am having to use a mates laptop to post this :)

thx

yeh you changed the hardware without a format. It's a hardware/os problem. IF you can't get into safe mode your going to have to format.

I have not formatted
This is probably why. It is hugely recommended to format a computer when you change a motherboard and reinstall cleanly due to how much of the motherboard is tied in with the operating system.

hi mate ,thx for the quick reply.

In the past i have upgraded without formating without any problems. So at the moment I have a lot on the harddisk,if you are sure that is what it is then i will have to bite the bullet !!

Pretty much 100% sure.

However try what andrewbell1984 suggest by booting into Safe Mode, you might be able to retrieve some of the important data from your hard drive before formatting (press F8 when booting up to get the boot menu, then select safe mode).
