new build problem...

Hi there ive just put together my new build and getting a "checksum error" when trying to boot along with the siren noise.

So far ive gone into the bios loaded the optimized defaults, restarted and then it does the siren noise from the start and the monitor doesnt even come on.

I also tryed to up the volts on the RAM as i read somewhere that the bios changes it. (manufacturers defalt is 1.9-2.0 and it was @ 1.8 however when i change it 1.9 or 2.0 i tryed to boot and the sirens begin from the start and monitor doesnt come on.

Dont really know what else to try hense me coming to you guys, any suggestions are appreciated.

Siren noise ?, may be a daft question, but do you have 2x 6x Pins plugged into the GTX, as they make a warning noise if you dont connect them.

Have you tried resetting the CMOS.

ye had to reset the cmos after the monitr wouldnt come on.

From another thread...

What I've tried:
* removed everything, installed a PCI video card and some Kingmax 256MB DDR2 667Mhz module in the 4th slot.
* resetted the BIOS by removing power, battery and switching the jumper. Left it like that for a few hours.
* pressed INSERT while turning on the power and the computer.

If I press TAB during the ABIT logo time I can see the BIOS checksum error

Fixed by pressing F1 at the blank screen :S Probably the only thing I didn't try.

Failing that....search http://forum.uabit.com/forumdisplay.php?f=48 for siren.

If it's a siren noise, it's normally heat related to the cpu...

Definitely put some compound on the heatsink yeah? You got the stock fan installed?

checked the bios for the tmp and it was 27c

Can you get into the BIOS now or is it blank screen?

Few people on the ABIT forum have this problem, and it seems you adjust it in the Guru providing you can see it.

ye i can get into the bios tried to do what the guys on the forum have said and doesnt do anything, havent realy got the time to do it at the moment either so have taken it to a techy and will have it back tomoz hopefully (if he can do it lol), cheers for the help anyway guys.
