I've used the HD from my old system (see sig) for my new build and I'd intended just to wipe the C: partition which currently has the previous install on it and reinstall it by booting from the Windows CD so I've gone into the BIOS, changed the boot priority to the CD drive but it's not having it, it keeps loading into Windows then BSODing (which I can understand!). I know that I've gone cross platforms but this shouldn't be happening surely? :(

This could be the (ammusing) problem i faced when i switched to a C2D set up from an old faithful Opty one...

When you cycling though the boot order in the bios there may be another option (after cd) which specifys your particular cdrom/dvdrom drive.

It took me 2 hours of swearing to notice this :(

On the other hand boot into safe mode on your current windows build and you should be able to switch all your drivers anway (was a bit of a laugh to see what 32bit windows was like with 4 gig or ram....) but it will feel rubbish compaired to a fresh install

I did notice my specific drive in the boot list & that's the one I chose but still no luck, I could try going in on the safe mode route, what do you mean about switching drives though?
