So my build as per :- http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18294952

Basically I get no power, I think to my graphics cards, card works fine because I'm using it now and same for the PSU, using now in this system. Everything else seems to start up fine but the fan on the card doesn't spin up, I can see the tiny LED light on the side of the card is on like it always is so it recognises thats there, totally baffling! I've tried booting in all diff scenarios, no ram/hdd/cpu/etc etc etc! my brain hurts! card I'm using is a 280gtx if it matters.

I'm wondering if there's some type of jumper or whatever I haven't yet changed or god knows what and it'll all be fine, anyoneeee?

just checking, you certain the cards are well seated when there in place ?

aside from that i think you've done everything you can, so i'd look at rma'ing the mobo :(.

Ok think I've solved it, last time I built a PC CPU power sockets were only 4 pins, this mobo has 8pins but 4 are blanked off, oddly. I have two CPU connectors on my PSU but they don't fit together to make an 8pin plug. Am I just totally wrong here or is that correct and that's what's stopping normal function?

You're supoosed to plug an 8 pin connector into that slot. I'm assuming your PSU has a 4+4 CPU power lead. They should clip together to form and 8 pin.

They don't, I'm baffled it's an OCZ 600w StealthXtreme jobbie.

It's got 2 4pin CPU plugs but they don't go together

It should have a single sleeved wire with two 4 pin plugs at the end. These clip together.

have a closer look, checked the spec for the psu you mentioned (hopefully the spec's didnt change over time) and it says :

1 x 6-pin PCI-E
1 x 6+2-pin PCI-E

I have a 700watt OCZ it has an 8 pin and a seperate 4pin power connector,on my new MSI board there was a socket with 8 pins four were blanked so I plugged in the 4 pin plug and it works fine there is also a 6 pin socket on the board but the system would not run if I plugged into that, my board is a msi 990FXA-GD65

So by only having the 4pin plugged into one half of the 8pin socket it runs fine? even in the manual it says it needs an 8pin socket in that plug... odd :/ now I'm not so sure its my PSU.. argh!!

Went to a certain popular PC retail store earlier, spent £80 of my finest pounds on a Corsair GS700, probably about £15 quid more than I would have paid online but I was desperate, sorted now booted straight away so was a good gamble :D
