Hi All,

I've just built the following spec:

"Primo 510i" Intel H61 DDR3 Ready Barebones (Socket 1155)

OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM

An Intel i3 2120 (3.3ghz) off MM

1TB Hard drive off MM

Now i've just put it all together. Sometimes I can get into the Bios, but usually it just powers down before it even posts. When it does post, all is normal.

In the Bios, everything shows up correctly. CPU temp is around 43 degrees C, so thats OK.

It just does a constant loop. Starts up to the point where you can hear the HDD start to spin, then shuts off, then starts up, then shuts off etc etc.

I've tried with no HDD, One stick of ram etc etc. On the odd occasion i've managed to get to the windows setup screen, but then its shut off.

Short of sending the whole bloody lot back apart from the CPU / HDD, i'm not sure what to do!

Any idea's?

I don't have another PSU to try it with.

Just tried it with no drives at all, and just one stick of ram. Still shuts off. It does almost seem like its not getting enough power, but surely even a cheap 500W PSU will be able to handle what I have in this system?
 
Difficult to say. Cold boot errors can be related to memory issues, power issues, ... CVheck the bios for debugging features (error codes, beeping noises, memory checks, verbose boot sequence, ...).

What's your memory settings in the bios?

god knows mate! bios is much different to anything i have ever used before! wouldnt know where to find any of that.

I do think its the PSU so it looks like it might be heading back to ocuk :(
 
Well I was going to say if you were anywhere near manchester I would come with a PSU to test mate, but your closer to OcUK :)

Thanks for the offer. I've sent them a webnote.

I'm lost though. I've started it up with the absolute bare minimum and its still doing it, so its looking like it might have to go back to be tested. I don't have any more idea's!

I think its the power supply to be honest.
