Hello, I recently got a new machine, but it keeps on crashing. I think it might be a hardware issue but I can not seem to pin it down?
Mobo: MSI Z87-G43 (Got it for the 3 video outs)
Mem: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2x4GB)
CPU: i5-4570 + Akasa cooler
+ Seagate 2TB + Case + PSU + Win 8.1

I reinstalled Win 8.1 Pro about 3 times and it appears to crash/BSOD for various reasons? to the point(s) where it would not boot anymore (not even safe mode) - I got to the point of thinking it really bad software. So I Installed Win 7. But once in a while I still get Blue Screened. And just now it had problems getting past the BIOS screen. I had to re-power it about 3 times.

The last 2 Win 7 crashes say PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA / SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION. I lost of Win 8.1 info, but from my memory they were mostly different.
I have run MemTest86 and Prime95 for a few hours each, and there was no issue. I dont know of any motherboard testing software?
It appears the errors happen more when the computer is dead cold / been off for many hours.

Oh - I've tried the standard MS drivers and the latest Intel ones & the new BIOS which has just been released.

One odd comment - After coming out of Hibernate today (not standby), Windows complained it could not find a system dll... but I noticed it was looking for
"api-ms-vin-core-localregistry-l1-1-0.dll" and it should have been
"api-ms-win-core-localregistry-l1-1-0.dll" which existed ?

It sounds like iffy memory? but I would love a second opinion

Regards,
Matt

Download and run Memtest, that will test your RAM.

I found a test program that fails:
IntelBurnTest (Linpack), would anyone say I have a iffy CPU?
because I've never seen an iffy CPU before

memory related imo

are you using the latest motherboard bios? and enabled x.m.p for your memory if it supports it? it will be in the bios pages

ive seen issues with some crucial memory on gigabyte boards also,it can simply be bios compatibility issue

Thanks for your reply, XMP is disabled, everything is running at stock speed. I doubled checked the [AUTO] settings and the MSI MOBO matches the RAM

use hwmonitor and report temps while you run ibt?
Normally the max temp is about 50-55deg, but this program pushed it to 62deg max (It jumps from 45 to 60deg quite a lot).

P.S. It just passed the standard test for the first time.

EDIT: running the Max stress for longer, the max temp reached 65deg

[Solved]

I thought I'll write a last message for anyone interested.

I thought I'll run MemTest again for no reason... And now it shows 1000s of errors in the first few seconds.
MemTest86 & MemTest86+ show the same pattern of errors on one of my sticks.

RMA... here I come...
