Hi folks,

I've built my sister a new machine out of bits i had lying around from various upgrades of my machine and it consists of the following:

Asrock P4S61
Celeron 2.4ghz & standard HSF
512mb DDR PC2700
40gb WD HDD
64mb GF3 Ti200
Sony DVD/CD-RW combo drive
Generic 400w PSU

Everything went fine, formatted the drive, installed windoze and all progs/drivers & updates, only when i rebooted it refused to boot at all. The fans spun for a sec then nada.

I tried all sorts of stuff, 2 diff PSU's, diff RAM, diff HDD etc etc and it would occasionally boot up no problems and run fine, then on shutdown refuse to entertain again.

I've sussed out that once it shuts down, if its left to cool down for 5 mins, then reset the PSU with the on/off switch on the back of it it will boot up and run fine.

I've replaced the archaic thermal paste with a layer of arctic silver and running temp is around 49 to 55 degrees.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing this problem as its doing my head right in!!

Cheers

Id say most probably its you PSU, or the motherboard power regs failing. If you have another CPU you could try it out ? Its also possible that it could maybe be a temperature issue , but as you say the temps seem ok.
