Hello chaps, i have recently put together a new system of mine.

c2d 6600
asus p5n-e sli
8800gts
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB
2 older hard drives - 120gb hitachi IDE and 250gb maxtor sata 1
geil 2gb pc 6400c4 ultra low latency
Seasonic m12 600w

It all went together well, however upon booting and trying to install windows on the new drive i could not, it kept on telling me that it needed to install system files on the ide drive. To get around this quickly i just unplugged the ide drive.

So continuing with installation i'm using the standard nvidia sata/raid drivers from the asus cd. I can see both my sata drives and i install windows on a partition on the seagate. After installation has finished and the computer reboots into windows i am faced with a stop error code at the loading bar.

This is an 0x0000007b code, with a few reference codes following.

I had a look on microsoft knowledge base and it seems to be some kind of hard drive driver incompatibility.

This article has the exact same error codes as i get
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082/en-us

But doesn't seem to be relevant as i'm trying a fresh install on a new drive.

Can anyone please help me? I'm tearing my hair out.

Edit

After rebooting with only the new drive plugged in i get this error code
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185/en-us

Which doesn't really apply at all. Seems like it is a prob with the new drive. I'll have to experiment somewhat.
