New build problems

Well I finally bought a new computer, got it all sorted yesterday but unfortunately my graphics card didn't come until today, so I used my old graphics card to test it all out. It seemed to work great! only problem was my PSU was making some buzzing noises (This is my old PSU from my last computer and I've not had this problem before with it)

Today I got my graphics card and put it in, sorted some cables out and tested it out, but fans, lights and everything came on and got a normal beep on boot up but nothing on the screen (no signal) and after about 10 seconds the motherboards lights went off, fans and everything still going.

So I tried making sure everything was plugged in alright, tried unplugging everything but the essentials, but no joy.

I then tried out my old graphics card in it and had the same problem, although I could hear the graphics cards fan speed up a bit as it first came on. Then tried taking out one of my sticks of RAM and when it booted the graphics cards fan sounded like it was stuck at 100%, no normal beep but after 10 seconds had a constant beeping.

So, what on earth could the problem be? Any suggestions?

Specs are:

CPU: i7 950 3.06GHz (stock)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-X58A-U3DR
RAM: 4GB (2x2GB) Corsair XMS3
Graphics card: GTX580
PSU: Corsair HX620w

Just went to try it again, plugged the PSU in and flipped the switch at the back and heard a pop, didn't sound too good. A bit reluctant to try turning it on now, think the PSU is gone?

I does sound like the PSU has gone down, hopefully that's all it is and everything else in the computer is ok.

Just off of the top of my head I would have thought a 620W corsair PSU would have been ok with a NV580, might be a bit close to tollerence but I would have thought it could cope.

I've seen a few threads now about Corsair PSU's going down lately, not sure what to read into it but it's probably more like they have sold loads and we are seeing a normal failure rate.

Actually just tested it in my old system and it seemed to be fine, I think the sound my have been my paranoia with all these problems. Also I noticed when I took a stick of ram out I was leaving it in the wrong socket.

So both sticks on their own get the system to beep normally as if booting, but nothing on the screen and after 10 seconds motherboard lights go out, also it's started beeping like normal, waiting about 10 seconds and rebooting, normal beep then 10 seconds later the lights go out on the motherboard and just the fans left on.

Sounding like the motherboard to me, anyone else have any ideas?
