Hey all,

Just built my first rig: Asus P5K mobo, xpertvision nVidia 8800GT, Maxtor Sata drive.

Since installing Vista Ultimate SP1 I have been getting program errors every time I exit IE7 and Windows Mail, sometimes whilst using them too. Occasionally things like the windows sidebar will report that it has stopped running as well. I've installed all the latest bios and drivers from asus and xpertvision but I can't sort out this problem. It's more annoying than anything else because the computer seems fine otherwise. I just want to get this problem solved before trying to OC it a little. Anyone else seen this?

Thanks
Lar

What i'd probably try is uninstall the service pack.
That is only if you downloaded it.

And see if the problems still occur?
Microsoft may have released a few updates that will fix this problem.

I'm also having trouble installing the Realtek ALC883 Audio Driver WHQL V6.0.1.5391 for Windows 32/64bit Vista - I get an error that the operating system isn't supported, having googled this it seems it might be something to do with Media Centre.

Do you think downgrading to Vista Business without the service pack might do the trick?

Ive got Vista 64-bit Home Premium, and had no problems with drives.

Make sure you have downloaded the latest chipset/audio drivers from your Motherboard Manufacturers website.

This should do the trick.

I've got the same problem, when using IE7 and sometimes exiting games.

Please let us know if the solutions work.

Yoggumz - that's just the problem, I can't install the latest audio drivers because I get this error about the operating system. I will post the exact message later when I get home.

the last thing you could try would be to do a fresh install of the OS and making sure everything installs properly.

But obviously only do this once you've tried everything else.

Show us the error when you get home and we may be able to help you.
