hi, im new here but not new to building a pc that works :)

well im looking to build a new Quad Core pc that will do the job.

what i do is use Adobe AE & Render HD quality Videos so i need something that will do the job without making my computer 100% Hotter than the sun.
i also like Silence. my computer now is really quite, silent like a ps3.
i dont game on the pc, i just edit and watch HD videos ,net ect.
my computer i have now is this.

just thinking i can get some ideas from some pro's on here.. maybe all i need to do is a lil OC and better Ram? but would that help me in adobe After Effects/Rendering
because it Takes me now 30 mins to Render 5 mins of 720p Video. & my computer just dont like it.

You want raw processing power. This is Intel's long suit. You don't need a graphics card of note, so getting a passive one won't be too hard. Keep the 9600.

How much do you care about noise, and yeah, budget? Air cooled is probably the way to go here. As a first approximation,

Keep the psu, graphics card, optical drive, hard drive. Go with the matx Asus board, i7 920, 6gb of corsair 1333mhz. Either the corsair h50 or the megalahems.

If you're able to change case (I don't know what the current one is like), the Antec mini P180 is sublime. It costs around £75, but is engineered to be quiet out of the box. The amazing thing is that the H50 fits in the top removable hard drive bay. This lets you use fan - shroud - radiator - shroud - fan which is perfection for water cooling. The top and rear 120mm spin at low speed out of the box and make very little noise (I'm obsessive with this and can't tell when the machine is on). Two pwm fans on the radiator connected to the motherboard header will barely move when the machine is idle, and spin to the minimum required while it's loaded. Separate section for the psu feeds it cold air so the psu fan never has to spin up. Hotwired has a similar set up, I'll see if I can find an image of it for you.

I'm rambling, but the P180 really is that good, and the H50 fits it perfectly. I want one badly (built a friends machine in this case), but it's not water cooling friendly. You'd be looking at the quietest 4ghz anyone on here will have, with the exception of those on true water cooling.

not to fussy with watercooling. a nice Quite Heatsink might be better?
i leave the computer on 24/7 and reboot it sometimes.

as for case. i have a P160, Great Case had it for years and its still like new. but i had to get a small HTPC style case since i dont have the room for a mid or tower. so what i want has to fit this Antec.

not to sure about mATX mobo, are they as good with OC or Bios ect as say Gigabyte? as i love there Mobo`s :) with heatpipe ect.

the setup i have now fits in the case with lots of room left to play with.
