Hello,
I’m no expert so would appreciate some guidance from you good folk. My 6600k has served me well for the last 5 years but it’s time to upgrade. I'll probably spend about £1,000 and only really need the case, psu, cpu, mobo and cooler (don't need a GPU or RAM right now)
Firstly I’m aware that Ryzen 5000 will be announced on 8th October, but I’m presuming that to actually get hold of a chip I’m likely to be looking at Christmas or early next year? I don't really want to wait more than a month but realistically I can't see Ryzen 5000 chips being available in that time frame. Is this a realistic expectation or do you think they'll be available before that?
Secondly I’m aware that the current round of Ryzen mobos will be compatible with the new cpus anyway. So my thinking is that I might get a decent Ryzen mobo and a 3900x now and upgrade to one of the new cpu's at a later point. Is this correct?
The other option is a 10600k or 10700k now as I understand that they're great gaming CPU's.
Thanks
