Hi There...

My AGP graphics card is knackered on my current PC, so rather than source a decent replacement from the now dwindling list of decent AGP cards, I've decided to bring my new build forward several months.

So, on to my questions;

1) I'm planning a PC based around a Conroe 6600, 2GB PC6400, GeForce 7900GTX, 2 HDs, 1 optical drive, 3 or 4 fans. Just wondered what kind of PSU wattage I'd need to be looking for - dare I try and get away with the 420W Tagan, or do I need to jump up to a 550W or so?

2) What is the supplied cooler like with the Conroes? I want things cool and silent, so would I be better replacing it with the likes of a Freezer 7 Pro?

Thanks in advance.

I'd be aiming at 450w as a minimum really, more likely 500w if you are thinking of overclocking(and with a Conroe it seems almost rude not to ;)), any one from Tagan, Enermax, FSP or Seasonic ought to do in that sort of range. The 420w Tagan would probably cope but it might be near to it's limits.

I don't know about 2. really, I think that the supplied cooler is decent enough but probably not up to heavy duty overclocking, that isn't in the CPU manufacturers interests so why would they supply a fantastic heatsink when one that is "good enough" will do? :)
