Posted this in motherboards initially but realise I'm asking about more than just the mobo so thought I'd post up what I asked there here:

Hi,

I started putting together my new build last night and things have changed a little since my last build. PSU's are now all mounted down low and my mobo uses a 4pin plug and a 24pin plug to power it. Glad I read the instructions as Asus had blocked off half the 8 pin one so I was all set to just put a 4 pin plug in the space left That's all my old setup used so assumed.......... lesson learnt and at least I didnt turn it on like that!

I have a Corsair 620 HX modular PSU and getting the cable to the 8pin power connector is proving interesting and I'm wondering how you all did it? I cant go behind as the cable isn't long enough. Currently I have gone over the graphics card but I dont like this setup as it means I have to remove a fan on my cooler and then the 8pin power connector to remove the g-card. Not that I plan on doing that that often.

Not sure if the black plastic plugs have been put on my wires on the Lancool case correctly either. I always thought the common colour (white) was ground and the coloured wires live. According to the little black plastic plugs on them some are round the other way (there is a little triangle for live and G for ground / earth). Personally I think that the plugs have just been slapped on any old way, anyone else had this on a Lancool case? Last thing I want to do is blow anything up on first turn on.

Graphics card now has two power connectors on it and I know both of these need to be plugged in. Is it best to have them both on the same rail / wire coming from the PSU or two seperate? I can do both seperately as I have modular wires for both plug sizes.

Next is working out where to plug all the case fans into so its back into the mobo user guide book as I think this mobo has sockets on it for a few fans. I thought I'd have it built in one evening, but I'm taking my time and dont would rather get it all right first time.

If anyone has any input on any of my queries they'd be much appreciated.

Cheers

One other question. According to the mobo book I have:

3 Chassis Fan connectors (these I know are for case fans)
1 Power Fan connector (Which fan is this?)
3 Optional Fan connectors (What can be plugged into these?)

If I can use the power fan and optional fan connectors do they just run the fans full speed?

CPU fan is an easy one though I made a mistake and purchased 2x Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900RPM Slip Stream 120mm Fans which I'll be using in a push pull setup. Unfortunately I dont think I can use these with a Y connector onto the single CPU fan connector on the mobo as there will be to much current draw? I have since read the Noctua ones are designed with this in mind. Does anyone know what the current draw is on the Scythe fans? it's not listed on the OC specs. Currently I have the push fan plugged into the CPU socket on the mobo and have plugged the other into a fan controller that came with the lancool case and will set that according to temps under full load using intel burn once overclocked. I'm sure it wont be any noisier than my last PC!

Cheers
