New build random reboots

I have just built a new vista 64 bit system, and it frequently turns itself off and then reboots to bring up the "windows did not shut down successfully" screen.
(Once when it did this, vista refused to load and I had to repair it.)

I'm running
AMD x2 4600+
MF-N2 nview mATX motherboard
2 gig ram (run vista's memory test and it seemed to pass as does memtest)
Seagate 200GB SATAII HDD

Update on issue - looks to be memory (see last post)

No ideas anyone?
This afternoon I've tried a new HDD, fresh install, taken wireless card out, tried different resolutions all to no avail.

:(

This type of fault can be very difficult to diagnose, but frequently comes down to PSU issues.

You don't list your PSU in your specs but this would be the first thing I would try swapping out in case it is not beefy enough or on the way south for the winter.

had exactly the same problem for 4 weeks with new system, turnd out to be a faulty stick of ram try taking them out and seeing which one causes the error. Im fully stable now even though the sho said their was nothing qrong with any piece of my hardware lol. It will sort it :)

This is the first thing I'd do.

Oh forgot to mention, ran memtest through once and it was fine. Will try it again with less memory allocated to the onboard gfx.

The PSU is a 430W one which came with the antec fusion case. I will try swapping it for another on the off chance its faulty.

Really stumped by this one, and its really getting me down!

For what you are running I would be inclined to think that you PSU is more than adequate.

Two other things to consider: Are you on the latest BIOS, and have you correctly set the memory voltage and other parameters to those recommended by the manufacturer?

Update

I've updated the bios, allocated the minimal amount of ram to onboard GFX, run 3 more memtest tests and reseated the CPU, incase it was heat issues (it seems to happen after a while, then will do it much more often).

Alas - its still doing it. Will try more fiddling when I get some time :(

OK, so I removed one memory stick, and the computer ran fine (albeit on 767 MB (onboard gfx))
I have just swapped the sticks over, and it seeme to be running ok oin this one too.

Any ideas why two identical sticks of dual channel installed would cause reboots?
The only thing I can see is that the mobo supports DDR2 800 and I'm using 2 sticks of 667 - but that shouldnt cause any problems should it?

Anyone any ideas?
