I run 4k gaming and want to upgrade my pc.
Going from a 3770k to a ryzen 1800x or the 8700k
Will be using my old psu and ssd and zotac 1080 amp extreme.
What route should I go.
Ryzen or 8700k. Because if this cpu meltdown will it hurt the 8700k.

Bit the bullet and got the z370 ASus rog maximus hero motherboard. 8700k, ek waterblock,Polaris 512gb m2, 16gb team group night hawk memory 3200.
This setup should be better than my old one.
With me buying the 8700k and ASus motherboard together will I still qualify for the £60 cash back.

Lol after everyone telling you to upgrade your GPU for 4K Gaming as the rest of your rigs fine, you go and upgrade the rig and not the GPU.... /boggle

Whatever floats you boat my friend :)

What changer my mind was a video on YouTube I just watched comparing a 3770k vs 8700k with a gtx1080 and both at 4.5ghz. The 8700k was on average 30 FPS better in games. And max about 50. So if it’s going to make that much difference I thought I would go with that. I’m running 4k now and FPS are not bad but the 30+ increase will make it loads better. Adding another gpu will just make the computer eat more electric.

You will see a difference at 4k even if it's not measured in the numbers. Do report back.

I’m going to get this built then sell my zotac amp extreme 1080 then get the zotac amp extreme 1080ti. My old card sells for about £450 on the action site.
Will let you know how I get on.
