Hi all,

I would really appreciate knowing if I have balanced kit please. Open to suggestions.

11 year old wants PC to play Fortnite, Fifa, Forza, GTA, Crew 2. No doubt he may play more taxing titles in next few years.

Happy that he can gradually add more RAM or better GPU but need something about £1K for now. Plan to build and install Windows myself. Have all the peripherals already.

Some thoughts.

- The 7600 comes with a cooler, it's plenty fine for that chip so save yourself £30 on the Peerless (although it's good)
- Doesn't the B840 not support overclocking? (I've not actuall;y seen much on the B840 but assume its the A620 with a new name) Consider a B650, for the wifi models you'll be looking around the same price.
- 2 x 8GB will restrict you in future as running 4 sticks isn't usually optimal, you can get 32GB of 6000 CL36 for £80
- The 4060Ti isn't a fan favourite, personally I'd wait for the new cards to be released before buying a GPU however if you must then the 7700XT beats the 4060Ti for a few extra quid and has 12GB VRAM

OCUK seems to have some stock problems at the moment with a lot on pre-order so for some of the above you may need to look around.

As above memory go for 32gb if you can stretch but a reshuffle should allow for that.

Alternatives.

Case comes with 6 fans

Hope it will be sensible performance for 2-3-4 years for an 11 year old now, with then the ability to move Up a CPU / GPU level, with more or less same other core bits.

*Update - CPU Out of Stock so £185 via P-rime

Your thoughts as trigger happy!!

Mr T

The GPU is also out of stock :/

HUB weren't fans of the Asus Prime boards, if you need Wifi then you have less choice, there are better boards for cheaper but they don't have Wifi, plus lots are again out of stock.

The Asrock HDV M.2 is popular, cheap and reviewed very well, I've built 2 machines with it. You could pick one up for around £120 but it seems lots of places are struggling for stock.
I see B850 boards for similar prices but don't have any experience with those and I've not seen how they review.

I'd take a look at the HUB video above and the follow up which recommend low/mid/high range boards and see what suits you and what's actually in stock anywhere!

+1 to the Asrock B650M HDV, available for <£110 due in a week so doesn't seem too bad, was going to get one myself until I nabbed a b grade b650m riptide from here instead.

Thanks Rob_B

I don't need wifi so what MB do you suggest please at about 140£ :)
It's handy to have a back up network but you also get Bluetooth.

Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX can be had for £140

Don't get a matx motherboard in a big case.

This case comes with 6 fans and will save you £25.

B650 eagle can be had for 140 as another alternative. A620 boards dont allow PBO to be enabled unless theyve changed that, so personally id steer clear of them

Hi guys

Have decided this is the build - except can't decide on GPU - need help please.

Switched to white build as this is what 11 year now wants - which is fine.

GPU - AMD or Nvidia - price £500 and needs to be white.

SKU

1 X MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ventus 2X E OC White 12GB GDDR6X PCI-Express Graphics Card - £499.99

1 X AMD Ryzen 5 7600 Six Core 5.10GHz (Socket AM5) Processor - Retail - £200.00

1 X Asus TUF Gaming 750W 80 Plus Gold Power Supply - £80.00

Grand Total: £1,219.90

RTX 4070 is white and £500.
Would a white Radeon be better for £500 and if so which one?

Then I will buy where available.

Many thanks - you have all helped massively and it is really appreciated.

All the best,

Mr T.
