Hey all

just wondering if its possible to build a slow computer sounds silly but my new build seams laggy and slow what could be the cause?

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.50GHz (Ivybridge) -
XFX HD 6870 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB
Samsung Green 16GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel

running windows 7 ultimate

cheers

Hmmmm sounds like the HDD.
How full is it, and have you scanned it to make sure its not faulty in any way?

Fresh install?

All drivers installed? (chipset/ATI Catalyst/audio etc)

Run the Windows Experience index ( it seems to make things nicer when I do it after a fresh install)

its only got 144gb on it and how would i go about scanning it im uber noober at this trying to learn some something new so computer building it was =]

as for chipsets i think there all there i install what the disk had to offer

What BIOS are you running? can download CPU-Z and the motherboard tab should tell you.

Anything external plugged in? (USB drives etc)

Can you download a benchmark program and test?

Cinebench 11.5
3D mark 11
Heaven Benchmark?

Or you could even try ATTO or Crystal Diskmark and test the HDD performance.

nope ive set up this machine without ssd its just like the hd is only half arsed so to speak as the parts i have should be over capable

tested it under load with Heaven Benchmark coped find got a little warm but that's expected

after a disk check it found a few things that it reclusters and fixed but now its even slower... just took me 40 minutes to get it to actually unlagg!!! and its still slightly laggy now any other ideas?

seams to liven up now and run find but a hour to load is a bit off a problem to me lol!
