New build setting up

So I've got most of my build set up, all I need to sort out really is the software ect. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this black band that surrounds my display because not all of the monitor is being used. Also I've noticed that I can't seem to find where my Hard Disk is. When I installed the OS, I unplugged the Hard Disk so that I knew for definite that all of the OS went onto the SSD. So I set the optical drive as the first priority, then the SSD. So once everything was installed and the computer was working, like it is now, I plugged the HDD back in but I've noticed that everything I've been downloading has been saving to the SSD. So to sum things up:
1. How do I get rid of the black band around my monitor?
2. How do I make my HDD 'visible'?
3. How do I get things to save to my HDD instead of my SSD?

1) Make sure you have the latest stable version of AMD catalyst control centre installed. Open it up and look for the "My Digital Flat Panels" tab on the left and click on it. Then look for "Scaling Options" and set the slider all the way to the right (0%). Apply the new setting.

2) Does the HDD appear in the BIOS? If not it probably needs to be reconnected. If it is in the BIOS, is it also in Start Menu > Computer? (assuming windows 7)? If not, try using the start menu search for "format" and the "create and format hard disk partitions" should appear - click on it. Once this window loads, does it should you hard drive among the other drives?

3) This will depend on part 2), but if the HDD is working fine as a secondary disk then it's just a matter of going into you browser settings and set the default download directory to a folder on the HDD.

Managed to get it working thanks. Do you know how I get the user accounts to save on the HDD instead of the SSD? I've tried copying them over but some files won't copy.
